Conflict Resolution Attorney Duties: Reviews conflicts search results for new business and additions to existing business to fully vet and resolve potential hits for conflicts clearance. Works with Conflicts Analysts to redirect search as appropriate to obtain enhanced results. Interfaces with attorneys and Professional Standard Committee Chair as appropriate. Determines the need for disclosures and ethical walls. Applies appropriate filters and party clearance notes for final report sent to billing attorney for approval. Develops appropriate disclosure and conflict waiver letters or disclosure and waiver language for insertion in engagement letters, with risk management approval and follows up with appropriate attorneys to ensure conflict waivers are sent to clients promptly. Reviews party submissions and search results, works with applicant and internal management to obtain additional information as needed. Annotates and clear conflicts, interfacing with matter partners as appropriate. Reviews results with appropriate department chair, professional standards partner regarding waivers and ethical walls, assisting with waiver or wall language development as needed. Manages the Walls program for ethical wall and confidentiality screen compliance. Reviews new requests and works with the requesting attorney and a professional standards partner or Accounting Manager to determine ethical or other appropriate need for a formal wall or screen. Implements according to the determined plan. Maintains the Walls program, disabling walls when appropriate as employees depart. Oversees the OCG approval process, reviewing overall and risk management OCG requirements. Works with appropriate Admin Department Managers, Professional Standards Committee and Accounting Manager to formulate a consolidated , concise response to the requestor. Provides direction and options regarding items of concern regarding OCG compliance. Works with attorney regarding compliance as it pertains to client identification and conflicts. Provides centralized "help desk" support for client, party, conflict waiver and ethical wall resolution and support. Assists the Professional Standards Committee Chair and Accounting Manager with ongoing training and education to secretaries and attorneys with regard to understanding clients, parties and party relationships. Provides one-on-one training, as necessary, with regard to completing all required forms and documents, reviewing conflict reports and clearing conflicts. Supports the Accounting Manager in the monthly preparation and reporting to attorneys and secretaries on matter and engagement letter status; updates database notes and tracks progress. Researches and performs database updates for corporate client changes. Reviews additions to conflicts and requests for client or matter name changes to ensure that parties are accurately reflected in the database or that new clients or matters are created and engaged. Collects updates received from attorneys regarding the automatic distribution of the Weekly Conflicts Report report; follows-through regarding questions or discrepancies; performs necessary updates to party information in the accounting software. Enhances information management and database accuracy through regular updates to the Conflict Analysts regarding data corrections. Work collaboratively to oversee and support daily operations in the NBD and provide coverage in conflict searches, clearance and other routine NBD duties when other team members are absent. Provides additional support to the department by assisting with special projects. Strives to meet deadlines, adheres to firm policies and department protocols. Maintains department customer service standards. Assists with special projects as assigned. Works cooperatively and communicates effectively with attorneys, secretaries and others as necessary to ensure that conflict and business intake policies are being met and related data is accurately maintained in the accounting database and corresponding files. Interfaces with the Accounting Manager and Professional Standards Chair, as appropriate, regarding all aspects of the conflict and business intake process. QUALIFICATIONS: College degree, JD Degree; Current member California State Bar preferred. 2+ years law firm experience clearing and resolving conflicts, preparing conflicts waivers. Prior experience practicing law desirable. High level of knowledge regarding the Rules of Professional Conduct and requirements as pertain to fiduciary duties and conflicts, familiarity with key elements of conflict clearance and law firm business intake requirements. Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite of software (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and pdf s. Advanced knowledge of automated conflicts software (Legal Key, Accutrac, Aderant, Elite, Elegrity) and use of web-based search engines. Knowledge of automated ethical wall software. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong leadership or management skills. Ability to work effectively within a team environment and to work proactively. Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment; ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
