Senior Paralegal - Employee Benefits The candidate will provide paralegal support, including managing cases independently while working under the general supervision of attorneys. Will serve as lead paralegal on assigned matters and is responsible for supervising junior paralegals, project assistants and/or temporary paralegals, as applicable, while maintaining positive contact with clients. Follow the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State. Assist, manage and collaborate with clients on plan design and implementation of welfare benefit plans and qualified retirement plan documents. Coordinate the preparation of plan documents and summary plan descriptions compliance with recent legislation and regulations. Assist with preparing and monitoring participant disclosure documents and compliance filings. Assist with QDRO review and certification. Manage compliance filings with Department of Labor and IRS under EPCRS and VFCP programs. Conduct legal research for clients regarding plan administration issues. Prepare IRS determination letter submissions and Private Letter Ruling requests for qualification of retirement plans. Prepare, review, and revise health plans and Summaries of Benefits and Coverage to ensure compliance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Prepare employee communication materials and benefits news alerts summarizing legislative and regulatory updates. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree. Must have 7+ years of Employee Benefits paralegal experience in a law firm or professional services environment. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required. Knowledge of basic legal research is needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2013 products is essential. Understanding of pension, 401(k), and welfare benefit plan laws and administration is a must. Should have ability to work moderate overtime and to travel locally and nationwide as needed.
