Legal Secretary The candidate should have 5+ years of litigation experience, which should include familiarity with State, Federal and Appellate procedure. Must have experience in a fast-paced environment with the ability to handle numerous cases simultaneously. Candidate must have a positive attitude and work well with others. Candidate must be detail oriented, have strong verbal and written communication skills, and have excellent computer, typing and organizational skills. Duties include: prepare pleadings, motions, and discovery by formatting, editing, and finalizing via attorney interaction and/or attorney dictation; E-file Complaints & Summons' to initiate the court case and create case number; E-file other legal documentation per local rules and procedural codes; E-file Federal court filings using CM-ECF/Pacer; work with discovery documents; E-file appellate documents using eDCA system; analyze documents to comply with discovery; enter data to internal case files; organize clients' documents to open and maintain hard file; scan documents into electronic file; calendar deadlines and due dates using Outlook; coordinate runner services and/or process servers to pick up/drop off documentation to/from the courts and to serve defendants, opposing counsel, County Recorder, etc.; coordinate parties to attend depositions, including court reporter; communication with clients; scheduling hearings/appointments; coordinate hearing documents; prepare for hearings, depositions, trials and appeals, conduct legal research using Westlaw Next.
