Paralegal - Personal Injury Defense The candidate will review and analyze information provided by clients, client representatives, other parties and their counsel, and medical providers, including medical records. Researches, compiles, reviews, reconciles, and/or maintains a variety of information and records. Inputs information regarding parties, case status and assigned tasks into case management software. Monitors and assists with maintenance of case calendar by scheduling matter events, coordinating with counsel, and generating status reports to keep attorneys updated with matter status. Answers questions and supplies detailed information both in person and on the phone. Drafts, reviews and edits legal documents and correspondence. Assists attorneys with preparation for and during trials, arbitrations, administrative hearings, etc. Prepare key document and issue binders. Organize, assemble, mark and maintain documents. Receives and processes a variety of requests for information, registrations, actions, forms, orders, notices, and/or other related information. Follows through on client needs through coordination of services. Assists with engagement and consultation with expert witnesses. Performs a variety of routine clerical activities and other duties as assigned. The candidate should have an Associates degree in a related field (such as legal assisting, law enforcement, or human services). Minimum of five(5) years of related experience. Although this position is located in New York City, prior experience in Pennsylvania state courts (in addition to New York courts) is preferred (but not required). Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with clients, co-workers, and representatives of other agencies. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate over the phone. Must be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent research, analytical and above average computer skills and knowledge. General knowledge of applicable subject areas, including court rules and procedures, and the ability to learn relevant terminology, policies, and processes. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and in using web-based applications. Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and deal with interruptions. Strong attention to detail. Ability to consistently demonstrate sound ethics, good judgment and maintain the confidentiality of information.
