Intellectual Property Paralegal Assistant The candidate will prepare documentation for patent applications, including Powers of Attorney, Oaths, and Information Disclosure Statements. E-file patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Review and analyze communications from the USPTO. Draft correspondence to clients, foreign associates and third party vendors. Assist attorneys with IP litigation cases and ITC matters, including e-filing with federal and appellate courts. Reconcile USPTO deposit account charges. Maintain accurate electronic filing and organizational systems with the highest regard for ease of use and timely retrieval of documents. May docket incoming and outgoing communications with the USPTO utilizing PATTSY. May prepare documentation for trademark applications, including Powers of Attorney and specimens. May e-file trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Obtain Certificates of Good Standing and other documents from Secretaries of State offices. Contribute to the overall team effort by working with all members and levels of the firm. Independently use sound judgment and initiative to develop project timelines, and successfully execute against established deadlines. Should have 1-3 years administrative experience in the legal field. Previous experience working in Intellectual Property is required. Paralegal certificate or undergraduate degree is preferred. Execution-oriented, self-starter, and self-navigator who can prioritize tasks and balance the demands of multiple projects and stakeholders are needed. Should have the ability to prioritize and coordinate projects and cases for more than one attorney simultaneously Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and proactive business style. Strong Microsoft Office skills required, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint is needed. Typing speed of 60 wpm is needed.
