Client Resource Attorney The candidate will respond to lawyer and client precedent requests to locate general or specific deal documents, using internal and external systems. Performs other legal and business research as required. Maintains extranet that houses document management system. Tracks transactions so as to request and maintain closing sets and other documentation. Updates structure charts as necessary. Suggest and implements improvements to the information-gathering processes (best practices) and the organization and dissemination of information for, the client document management/practice site - for this purpose, attends practice group meetings, calls and e-mails attorneys and the client, and takes advantage of other electronic information transfers. Collaborate with practice group leaders and other attorneys to design effective workflow systems and processes which meet the practice group's needs and priorities, and establishes relationships with attorneys and the client to promote awareness of KM initiatives, to solicit their participation in the furtherance thereof, and to stay current on issues important to the firm s practice areas. Continually evaluate systems that collect and track deal experience to ensure that data collection is strategically aligned with lawyer and client expectations regarding insights needed for future corporate transactions. Provide ongoing individual and group lawyer and client training on KM systems, and on other internal and external resources, and on various best practices. Draft and disseminates communications or status reports to lawyers and the client to inform them of current issues and developments relating to their matters or system changes. Develop and manages taxonomies, and new database architecture for existing and new systems and recommends guidelines, policies and procedures regarding the design and functionality of, and improvements to, these and future KM systems. Works on other Knowledge Services initiatives and projects as assigned. The candidate should have a J.D along with a minimum of 3 years relevant legal experience in a practice or research role. In-depth understanding of practice-related transactions and detailed knowledge of form and content of corresponding documents in order to communicate effectively with lawyers. Strong understanding of organizational practice group workflows and how these workflows interact with other internal firm information systems such as time and billing or matter sites. A keen understanding of new technological advancements, how they are being applied across the legal industry and how they might be adopted to the PW environment. Ability to analyze issues and problems systematically, gathering broad and balanced input, drawing sound conclusions and translating conclusions into timely decisions and actions. Work effectively as change agent by presenting guidelines, standards and processes in communications that resonate with lawyers as to the value and importance of adopting new methods of practice. Ability to create a project plan, set deadlines, delegate responsibilities and see a project through to its conclusion. Strong understanding of knowledge management principles, technology and best-practices. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to prepare written memoranda and correspondence.
