Family Law Attorney The candidate will keep client files properly organized and up to date. Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action. Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings. Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients. Create legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgements and orders for a high volume of cases. Work closely with paralegals and Managing Attorney to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process. Must have great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations. Should have 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property). Must be member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association). Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants required. Must be admitted to practice law in New York State and in good standing with the bar.
