Paralegal/Legal Assistant Responsibilities: Preparing discovery, legal correspondence and other documents for attorneys. Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to talk about case details. Filing pleadings and other legal documents with court clerk via efiling. Helping prepare for trial by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed as well as attending trial to facilitate presentations and exhibits for attorney. Preparing memos, pleadings, subpoenas, and other legal documents. Investigating facts and laws of cases and searching public records and other resources to prepare cases and determine causes of action. Directing and coordinating law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas. Gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, documents and other data. Calling on witnesses to testify at hearings and/or trials. Keeping law library up-to-date by monitoring legal volumes. Use of Microsoft office programs to prepare documents, schedules, presentations, etc. Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts. Manage client billing by preparing, finalizing, and sending out bills, as well as resolving billing issues in cooperation with the billing attorney. Communicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions. Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems. Provide general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the attorney's calendar and making travel arrangements. Maintain all office billing and invoicing.. A High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a Bachelor's degree preferred. 1-5 years of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department), legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal preferred. Office administration experience preferred. should be detail-oriented and highly organized. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor. Should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must be able to function effectively in team oriented environment but capable of single handedly completing tasks.
