Corporate Paralegal (Mid-Level) Duties: Take lead role in private equity, finance, and life science transactions, tracking and obtaining pre- and post-closing documents and formalities to assure performance of obligations; ability to manage a paralegal team in large or complex closings. Ability to actively maintain and disseminate documentation and offer guidance to attorneys, paralegals, and firm administrative departments related to effective utilization of, and compliance with, client specific resources, preferences and databases. Lead client-dedicated paralegal teams in reviewing and determining appropriate responses to incoming requests, documents and correspondence. Implement, maintain, and improve team processes, including request intake, prioritization and status tracking, team coordination and communication. Ability to proactively and independently lead, prioritize and coordinate various projects simultaneously, while leveraging insights and best practices and unique client preferences. Some projects may require the individual to take the lead role in managing a process, or he/she may be the only resource responsible for the execution of the project. Develops familiarity with unique or uncommon events in life cycles of public and private companies; familiarity with the state and federal reporting requirements in connection with regulatory matters and company documents. Works proactively to stay up-to-date on developments in areas of expertise. In unique situations, can develop a logical course of action. Actively mentors more junior paralegals and attorneys; recognizes different learning styles and adjusts the method of instruction accordingly when supervising on projects; confirms comprehension by others of instruction. Assists in the creation and delivery of training materials and other resources for paralegal group and firm in various practice areas. Performs other work-related duties as assigned by other corporate paralegals and other individuals within the corporate management structure. Will involve significant contact with lawyers, paralegals, and clients of the firm. Assist with other client development initiatives, requests, and projects as the need arises from inception through implementation. The candidate will have a bachelor degree from an accredited program. Experience in a deadline driven professional services role handling multiple client situations, needs, and inquiries required. Must be a demonstrated self-starter who is both highly organized and a team player. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the Firms internal and personnel affairs. Must have extensive experience in client facing and client relationship building. Able to interact and collaborate effectively with all levels of personnel, including management staff and support staff. Possesses strong oral and written communication skills. Able to successfully manage and lead a team. Able to be a proactive self-starter, who understands the details within a much larger context. Serves as a resource, facilitator, and mentor in order to effectively support the needs of the department. Must be flexible and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities.Able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks. Must be able to anticipate problems and issues and exercise independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action in solving problems while knowing when and to whom to escalate issues. Must be team-oriented and able to share information, goals, opportunities, successes, and failures with the appropriate parties. Able to influence at all levels of the organization. Possesses excellent attention to detail and follows up and follows through on deliverables. Owns professional development by actively seeking out feedback and learning new skills. Takes ownership of deliverables and is accountable. Able to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations. Able to effectively work in a multi-office environment and a culturally and educationally diverse environment. Able to travel nationally and internationally on short notice. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.
