Litigation Paralegal The candidate will join the Medical Malpractice/Health Law practice group. Will assist attorneys in all phases of discovery and motions practice. Assist with preparation of depositions; prepare witness files; and schedule and adjourn depositions. Assist with creation of organizational databases in order to maintain large document collections. Attend/perform document reviews and prepare document productions. Perform legal research; compile, analyze, and present findings; and obtain information/documents from various courts, government agencies, libraries, and other outside resources. Draft standard procedural pleadings; and maintain correspondence and pleadings files. Index and summarize documents and depositions. Assist with trial preparation. Maintain case calendars, case files, and trial/case notebooks. Set up and organize initial documents received for new cases; index records; prepare summaries of same; and prepare chronologies of events. Prepare and coordinate service of subpoenas. Perform research on expert witnesses; utilize defense database services; maintain expert witness data bank; and receive and respond to requests pertaining to expert witnesses. BA/BS degree in a related legal field of study is required. Paralegal certificate is strongly preferred. Must have 6+ years of experience in civil litigation. Medical malpractice defense litigation experience preferred. Working knowledge of Westlaw, Pacer and e-filing protocols is essential. Strong analytical skills are a must.
