The San Francisco office of this mid-size firm is engaged primarily in litigation and general business, although the firm boasts a solid regulatory and administrative law practice and a respectable labor/employment practice. The firm has a strong pro bono commitment; associates receive full billable hour credit for approved pro bono work and, overall, pro bono comprises 3-5% of all work. The billable hour target is 1850 and salaries are approximately 20% below market.
IP Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities: The candidate will prepare, organize, and manage litigation documents, including discovery, motion, expert, and trial documents. Organize and maintain case materials using legal document management systems. Conduct research and gather information using general and legal research tools. Other responsibilities as client needs dictate. Requirements: The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate or appropriate job-related experience required. Must have 10+ years experience as a patent litigation paralegal, ideally in the Central District of California, with substantial trial experience. Must have experience with ediscovery coordination and project management, including data collection, document retrieval, and production. Should have proficient in electronic filings using CM/ECF system. USPTO inter partes review and re-examination experience a plus. Must have ITC experience a plus. Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Should have strong computer skills including litigation support software and databases. Exceptional drafting, proof-reading, and communication skills. Ability to work independently, plan, and take initiative to accomplish objectives in a timely manner with minimum supervision. Must be a team player while effectively and efficiently using firm resources. The candidate should be an experienced patent litigation and trial paralegal to join Intellectual Property practice group. Should be talented with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
