Associate Patent Attorney - Chemistry and Biotechnology The candidate will represent clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office: amend patent application claims, respond to office actions, conduct interviews with Examiners, advocate for clients' interests in ex parte appeals and post-grant proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Analyze clients' freedom-to-operate concerns over competitors' patents and advise on design-around strategies. Research various topics in patent law to guide clients in handling Examiners or competitors. Counsel clients on business and legal aspects of their IP strategy. The candidate should have 2+ years of practicing patent law as a licensed patent attorney (both state bar and USPTO registration required). Deep knowledge of chemistry and biotech required; Ph.D. strongly preferred. Familiarity with the basics of patent prosecution required. Strong analytical and problem solving skills and ability to build rapport with clients essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are must. Proficiency in multiple languages a plus.
