Litigation Paralegal Duties : The candidate will mange all phases of medical malpractice litigation primarily in state district court. Works closely with the attorney and must be knowledgeable regarding prefiling investigations, compliance with Chapter 74, preparation and service of pleadings, management of all aspects of discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and trial. Solid knowledge of court rules, proper docketing procedure, and e-filing. Good writing and proof reading skills are essential. Will have heavy client contact including initial client intake calls. Requirements : The candidate must possess 5+ plus years of medical malpractice paralegal experience. Have knowledge of civil procedure and e-filing process in both state and federal courts strongly preferred. Possess strong oral and written communication skills demonstrated in the ability to present information in a concise and understandable way. Must have ability to deal professionally with clients, court personnel, witnesses, opposing counsel, and others involved in the litigation process. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail including the ability to prioritize work and manage a high volume of cases and projects while producing exceptional work product in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills including word processing, email management, and document management software essential. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, PACER/ECF, txcourts.gov, Clio and other litigation support software a plus. Familiarity with Lexis and general knowledge of other research tools, such as special legal and/or government agency data bases, the internet, and social media sites to obtain required information and documents.
