Personal Injury/Insurance Claims Litigation Paralegal The candidate will perform substantive billable legal work under the direction of one or more attorneys in the office. Will support the legal team with legal research, drafting memos, discovery requests and responses, motions, and orders, and preparing for hearings and trials. Perform their duties under the direction of one or more attorneys to whom they may be assigned. Answer client questions about what will happen in their case or recommending that a client undertake a certain course of action during their case. Organizing files, docketing (scheduling) events, filling out legal forms. Drafting letters and simple court documents. Drafting documents by customizing standard forms. Writing reports and legal documents. Making thorough researches about laws and judicial decisions, about current as well as past cases. Helping attorneys prepare cases for hearings. Assisting lawyers in the courtroom. Communicating with clients with updates and gathering information. Reviewing pending legislation. Drafting motions and other court documents. Preparing discovery and responses to discovery demands. Check e filing, update file, contact client, answer phones, scheduling, meeting with clients to review discovery responses, other tasks as assigned. The candidate should have completed a course of study offered by a college or university specifically for paralegals and possess a certification as a trained paralegal. Must have experience in a personal injury law firm and/or insurance claims law firm. Those with experience working in-house with an insurance company will be given preference. Prior experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant is also pertinent.
