Junior State and Local Tax (SALT) Associate Attorney The candidate will join a controversy practice involving commerce clause and due process clause issues in the context of state and local taxation. Will assist with trials and appellate proceedings. Research multistate tax issues for all tax types, yet primarily in the income and franchise tax areas. Prepare legal memoranda. Draft petitions, discovery requests and discovery responses. Assist in the preparation of motions and briefs. Tax planning and analysis regarding issues such as corporate franchise and income taxes, sales and use taxes, real and personal property taxes, and telecommunications and electronic commerce taxes. Strong academic credentials in law school coursework are essential. Bar admission in New York is strongly preferred. Must be a litigator with 2-3 years of experience. A strong interest in constitutional issues and multi-state litigation is required. Outstanding research and analytical skills are needed.
