Associate Probate Litigation Attorney The candidate will participate and conduct initial consultations with potential clients. Identify and communicate legal issues, appropriate strategies, and recommendations to meet our client's objectives. Independently manage and maintain own caseload. Supervise and delegate casework to paralegal team members. Regularly communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties as needed to move cases forward. Draft petitions, objections, motions, discovery, mediation briefs, trial briefs, and ancillary documents. Take and defend depositions. Represent clients at court appearances and mediations, virtually and in-person as appropriate. Explain complex legal concepts and court proceedings to clients. Be a self-starter who can prioritize, work on multiple projects simultaneously and work well in a fast-paced environment. Provide updates on caseload at review meetings. Meet the annual billable requirement of 1,265 hours. The candidate must have a California State Bar License with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; ability to supervise and direct the work of paralegal staff; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; proficient researcher (comfortable with searching case law, statutory law/codes, and practice procedures in order to meet procedural requirements); excellent time management skills to meet multiple deadlines; proficiency with Word, Word Perfect, Adobe, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and legal case management systems; experience in probate litigation OR civil litigation (with a willingness to learn trust and estates). Must be proactive with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
