Veterans Benefits Claims Advocate / Paralegal / VA-Accredited Claims Agent The candidate will responsible for supporting the senior members of the team by drafting client communications and communications to the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Requires superior written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as in a fast-paced team environment. Provide adequate, informed representation for veterans throughout the VA benefits appeals process (Accredited Agent). Represent veterans, servicemembers, dependents and/or survivors before the VA for VA benefits, such as veterans disability claims (Accredited Agent). Interpret and understand Title 38 US Code and Title 38 of the Federal Code of Regulations and veterans benefits and applicable law and regulations. Assist claimants with understanding and pursuing VA benefits. Manage a high-volume caseload. Develop and apply knowledge of VA appellate system to client interactions. Navigate client cases and files to answer all status inquiries. Create positive interactions with clients to maintain client satisfaction. Draft basic correspondence to clients and the VA. Update case management system with all correspondence, completed work, contact information, and other information needed for record-keeping purposes. Complete forms and releases with clients to obtain medical records, Social Security records, service records and other necessary records and information. Ensure that all documents listed in VA decisions are present in client files. Ensure VA is working on clients pending claims and appeals. Complete applications for claims and appeals . Accreditation as a Claims Agent with the Department of Veterans Affairs preferred. Minimum of 3 years' previous experience as a Paralegal or Accredited Agent handling Disability/Veterans Benefits cases 3 years experience handling Social Security Disability claims in lieu of veterans benefits experience. Experience with Needles case management / document management beneficial
