Litigation Paralegal / Law Office Manager Duties: Researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist attorneys by performing a variety of support duties. All duties and functions will be supervised by an attorney. Attend initial meeting with clients. Collect, organize information and documentation from clients. Set up appointments with clients. Provide regular updates to clients. Track the status of client filings. Tracking and managing case deadlines, monitoring dockets. Prepare and compose motions and routine correspondence and act as a liaison to court personnel. Prepare, draft filings to relevant agencies. Complete indexes, pleadings, exhibits, checklists, motions, legal research for litigation proceedings. Must have experience working with state courts juvenile, general and circuit courts. Knowledge of family law, personal injury, and/or criminal proceedings a plus. Duties include drafting pleadings, preparing discovery requests and responses, trial preparation, maintaining case files (both hard and electronic), drafting correspondence, working with clients, and other duties as needed. Analyze case documents. Assist attorneys in all aspects of trial preparation. Proofreading documents prepared by attorneys within the department for internal consistency and accuracy. Assistance in preparing presentations/outlines for meetings, conferences, etc. Summarizing legal documents and drafting form legal documents for use on an on-going basis. Communication and coordination with opposing legal counsel regarding ongoing matters. Other duties as may be necessary / assigned. Will be responsible for delegating tasks to other team members as needed, preparing attorneys for Court appearances, ensuring compliance with all Court or agency rules, and overseeing firm advertising efforts. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certification. College degree is preferred. Law school graduates welcomed to apply. 3+ years of Paralegal experience. 3+ years experience in litigation is preferred. Prior office experience is required. Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus. Strong oral and written communication skills necessary. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Computer skills and other general office experience; Experience with legal software (Time Matters) a plus. Careful attention to detail is essential. Ability to work in a fast-paced legal environment with rapidly shifting priorities. Ability to work independently and to efficiently prioritize among a variety of tasks. Strong interpersonal/communication skills and the ability to work effectively both internally and externally with a wide variety of individuals. Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions/make recommendations based on the investigation/analysis. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long term goals. Ability to work well under stressful conditions with critical/tight deadlines. Participate in the implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of an electronic document management solution to increase the efficiency of legal processes. Perform legal research on a variety of issues. Problem solving and analysis skills. Great listening skills. Great Communication, both written and verbal. Organization. Must exude confidence, motivation and passion for work. Able to prioritize and accomplish projects efficiently and independently identify and complete tasks as they arise. A high level of professionalism and resourcefulness is required, as this role requires regular communication with clients and other counsel.
