Legal Assistant/Paralegal Responsibilities: Proactively monitors status of pending cases and communicates with attorneys as to case status and suggested actions to move cases forward to conclusion; Drafts, reviews and edits legal documents (pleadings, motions, notices, discovery, responses to discovery, etc.) and correspondence; Reviews and analyzes information, including medical records, provided by clients, client representatives, other parties and their counsel, and medical providers; Input information regarding parties, case status and assigned tasks into case management software; Monitors and assists with maintenance of case calendar by scheduling matter events, coordinating with counsel, and generating status reports to keep attorneys updated with matter status; Assists attorneys with preparation for and during trials, arbitration proceedings, administrative hearings, etc., by preparing key document and issue binders, organizing, assembling, marking and maintaining documents for exhibits, scheduling witnesses for testimony and performing other, similar tasks. Qualifications: Associates degree or 5+ years of related experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate over the phone. General knowledge of applicable subject areas, including court rules and procedures, and the ability to learn relevant terminology, policies, and processes. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and in using web-based applications. Must be highly organized and be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Must have excellent telephone skills and proficient typing skills for the preparation and maintenance of attorneys calendars, files and court documents. Must be able to perform functions such as drafting correspondence, pleadings and briefs in both state and federal court and be familiar with both court systems generally. Experience with E-filing in State and Federal Court, Excel, as well as Amicus system, a plus.
