Trusts & Estates Paralegal DUTIES: Manages deadlines for multiple tasks by prioritizing and delegating. Follows up and follows through, is a problem solver. Prepare client asset charts using Excel. Prepare visual presentation of a client s plan using PowerPoint. Draft durable powers of attorney, health care proxies, deeds, and nominee trusts. Prepare summaries of the client s documents. Prepare documents for signing. Prepare client correspondence regarding transfer of assets into trusts. Prepare engagement and termination letters. Online research at Registry of Deeds. Record real estate deeds. Maintain meticulous billing records. Prepare gift tax returns. Draft probate pleadings and interact with court personnel. Maintain a current To-Do list for each estate. Prepare an inventory using Excel detailing the assets of the decedent. Prepare an accounting from the date of death through the closing of the probate process. Prepare and file estate tax returns. Transfer assets to beneficiaries. Obtain taxpayer identification numbers. Draft simple trust agreements. Draft trustee removal and appointment documents. Coordinate distributions from trusts and transfers of assets into trusts. Qualifications: 2-4 year degree from accredited college. Paralegal certificate is welcome. 2 years of paralegal experience. Expertise with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and demonstrated ability to learn new programs and technology. Strong oral and written skills, including proofreading skills. Enjoys client contact. Highly organized and able to work independently. Professional demeanor. Enjoys the collaborative environment of a boutique law firm. Exhibits the highest ethics in the performance of paralegal duties, including the maintenance of client and firm confidentiality. Flexible and responsive to shifting demands.
