Litigation Paralegal II Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of large-scale complex litigation. Assist with depositions, manage pleadings, privilege logs, and court filings. Organize and manage electronic and hard copy document collections. Manage and manipulate data in litigation support software. Legal and factual cite-checking. Trial preparation and attendance. Supervise junior paralegals and litigation teams. Prioritize and manage multiple cases/projects. Team-oriented with a collaborative focus. Assist with the collection of material from the client, opposing parties, and third parties (hard copies, electronic data, physical evidence). Maintain chain of custody. Work with a Litigation Support group to design and implement document review systems. Prepare privilege logs. Manage logistics of production of documents - hard copy, images, native. Analyze documents and materials. Researches prior testimony and publications of opposing experts, rules of procedure for relevant court venues. Research local rules of procedure for relevant court venues, obtain information relating to the venue (e.g. judge's bio, prior decisions, and opinions); obtain precedent from other cases in the same venue. Draft routine filings (e.g. attorney appearances, notices of filings, notices of motions). Check legal cites for proper format, content, and standing (Westlaw, Lexis; Blue Book). Research and check fact cite for proper format, content, and accuracy (Blue Book). Compile appendices and exhibits. Manage service of process; files with the court and serves on parties; coordinates with local counsel. Interact with outside entities (clients, government agencies, expert witnesses, consultants, other law firms, opposing parties, court personnel, etc.). Design and manage databases in Relativity; Designs and manages calendaring, task sharing, collaborative systems, and extranets. Compile and track trial exhibits. Prepare pretrial documents. Manage trial transcripts. Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor's degree preferred with 8-10 years of experience focusing on complex litigation cases, including managing large discoveries, creating and managing databases and imaging systems, supervising teams, preparing for trial, and managing trial support; high-level experience with a range of litigation support applications; excellent analytical and organizational abilities, solid communication and management skills, creativity, initiative and ability to work in a team environment. Should meet the California Business and Professional Code 6450 requirement; ability to lift up to 25 pounds; MS Office proficiency; Litigation Support Applications - Relativity, Textmap; E-filing tools skills.
