The San Francisco office of this mid-size firm is engaged primarily in litigation and general business, although the firm boasts a solid regulatory and administrative law practice and a respectable labor/employment practice. The firm has a strong pro bono commitment; associates receive full billable hour credit for approved pro bono work and, overall, pro bono comprises 3-5% of all work. The billable hour target is 1850 and salaries are approximately 20% below market.
Trademark Paralegal The candidate will be responsible to provide essential and specialized client and attorney support relating to all phases of domestic and foreign trademark prosecution. Coordinate and manage U.S. and foreign trademark filings/portfolios; Conduct preliminary trademark searches, including design searches; Manage US and foreign trademark dockets; Assist attorneys with trademark filing strategy and due diligence; Correspond with US and foreign associates and clients on trademark matters; Prepare and file trademark applications and foreign filing instructions; Prepare and file powers of attorney and letters of instruction; Prepare client letters for deadlines and PTO correspondence and documents; Perform other duties as assigned and/or as client needs dictate. Must have 3-5 years of trademark prosecution experience. Bachelors degree and paralegal certificate or equivalent experience is required. Strong knowledge of USPTO search and trademark filing systems, and WIPO databases is critical. Experience with procedures and practices regarding application and registration of U.S. and foreign trademarks is necessary. Advanced proficiency with computerized trademark docket databases is essential. Advanced knowledge of electronic legal research tools is must.
