Paralegal I The candidate will requires knowledge of the legal system, terminology and procedures in addition to clerical and administrative skills. Prepare immigration cases as assigned by manager for submittal to the appropriate government agency; begin to achieve a mastery of case types from simple to complex filings within particular practice areas. Demonstrate mastery of multiple case types from simple to complex filings within particular practice areas. Demonstrate increasing level of independence in handling cases and achieving monthly filing goals. Responsible for working with attorneys in the preparation, filing, and monitoring of various immigration and nationality law matters. Understand the procedures and documentation required for cases to be filed successfully and following BAL s service standards. Work with clients to gather the necessary information and documentation in a timely manner. Prepare forms according to information received. Prepare letters and other documents on behalf of the employer/client. Finalize documents after review by Practice Manager, Team Manager and/or Attorney. Demonstrate ability to manage a high caseload and work within strict timelines. Monitor the status of all filed applications and petitions. Run reports to assist in managing one s own caseload. Assisting with the review of billing protocols and ensure that billing guidelines are met. Evaluate cases and assist in providing case strategies and/or solutions to issues. Provide company contacts with training and guidance regarding BAL systems and general immigration matters. Engage in frequent contact with company clients. Keep abreast of current regulations and procedures relating to filing applications. Works with clients to obtain documents and information necessary to prepare applications. Drafts support statements and organizes documentations for filling. Files and monitors applications and petitions with appropriate government agencies. Performs research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, stand processing times, etc. Initiates contact with government officials to obtain necessary information to alert supervising attorney of potential delays or possible problems in the processing of an application. The candidate must have ability to excel within an extremely high volume environment. Must have ability to make sound judgment calls. Must have ability to work well with minimal supervision. Must have ability to catch errors and correct the work of others. Should have superior client service skills. Must have ability to prioritize cases, manage caseload and other tasks (i.e. projects, company management responsibilities, etc.). Should have ability to meet deadlines and goals Physical Requirements. Must have able to maintain a sedentary position for up to 90% of the work day. Should have able to type and to grasp, grip, push and pull file drawers and doors. Should have able to walk and climb stairs or use elevator to coordinate with other departments. Must have able to bend, stoop, kneel and/or stand to access files and documents. Must have able to lift up to 25 lbs of files and/or boxes. Must have minimum 1 year corporate immigration experience. Must have Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate.
