Real Estate Paralegal The candidate will assist attorneys on defined client teams in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including due diligence, lease closings, and post-closing activities for real estate leasing and development. Will be heavily weighted to real estate development and leasing, involving review of land due diligence, and client leases including construction work letters. Will be a member of the firm's Real Estate department, reporting to the attorneys on their team. Order and review title commitments, exception documents, and surveys, interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues or discrepancies, and obtain revised title commitments, title insurance proformas, and final surveys. Prepare first drafts of title and survey comment/ revision letters to the title companies and surveyors. Prepare first drafts of title objection letters. Prepare and administer contract critical dates, electronic calendaring, and closing checklists. Coordinate and assist with all aspects of closings including lease closings, including preparation of lease closing documents, conveyance documents, closing statements, and other closing documents. Attend all post-closing requirements, which will require you to prepare closing indices, prepare and organize closing binders, and monitor all post-closing deliveries and requirements. Prepare clear and concise correspondence and memorandum. Prepare initial draft document, amendments to agreements or leases, and miscellaneous documents, including estoppel certificates, SNDAs, and Memos of Lease for attorney review. Review organizational and authority documents. The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree and/or a paralegal certificate. Should preferably have 3+ years of experience in commercial real estate transactions, including experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. The law firm, practical business, and in-house experience will be considered. Must have significant title and survey experience, including review of title commitments and surveys, review, and analysis of easements, declarations, REA's, and other exception documents, and preparation and negotiation of title objection letters. An understanding of the standard title insurance endorsements is needed. Should have proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, or similar mail. calendar technology. Legal research skills and knowledge of relevant databases are needed. Should have strong writing, organizational, and communication skills, extensive knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and legal terminology.
