Conflicts Attorney The candidate conduct independent reviews of all potential new Firm business and ensure compliance with applicable ethical standards. The Conflicts Attorney will advise the Firms lawyers, paralegals and other staff on conflict of interest issues, draft waiver letters, and perform legal research. Will support the Office of General Counsel in working collaboratively with other members of the New Business Department to analyze all new business and assist with ongoing risk management initiatives. The New Business Department collaborates daily with other Firm departments to maintain accurate client records, respond to requests for information/proposals, and publish external legal updates. By utilizing a solid understanding of basic litigation concepts, business organizations and financing concepts, the Conflicts Attorney will be called upon to make and communicate difficult decisions, handle multiple complex situations, and produce high quality work while under pressure. Through intentional, directed interaction with all Firm attorneys, the Conflicts Attorney will sustain a working knowledge of all Firm practice areas to ensure that all conflicts analysis and risk management advice is informed by the nuances of a varied civil practice. This position reports to Conflicts Counsel & Director of New Business. Review and analyze information regarding new business and related requests to identify, report and address potential legal, business, and positional conflicts of interest. Resolve conflicts by providing meaningful and concise information to Firm attorneys while working collaboratively with attorneys to find a solution. Work collaboratively with Department staff to order, draft, track, and review conflict of interest waivers. Construct, monitor, and review exclusionary, inclusionary, and client-requested ethical walls. Request, review, and conduct client-related and legal research. The candidate should have Alaska, Oregon, or Washington State Bar membership. Must have 1-3 years experience in a civil practice. Desired: Experience in a conflicts analysis/clearance role. Familiarity with Boolean logic and experience with conflicts database management. Experience with Elite Enterprise. Experience with Intapp Open, Business Acceptance, Walls, Integrate, and/or Time. Should have demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Must have professional skill in effectively multi-tasking and managing competing demands from both internal and external clients. Excellent research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are neeeded.
