Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney The candidate will handle all aspects of defending workers' compensation claims for benefits including medical, disability, impairment, increased benefits under LC 132a, coverage and employment defenses for clients including insurance companies, third party administrators and employer representatives. Handle all aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, trials, arbitrations, liens, and settlement negotiations and documents. Will be responsible for: case evaluation and preparation; discovery; prepare for and attend hearings/depositions; reporting on hearing, depositions, appearances; corresponding as needed; filing pleadings in response to applicants' claims filed; appearance at WCAB; preparing correspondence to clients regarding status and updates of active claims; performing legal research and analyzing cases; developing/recommending case strategy; developing plan of action; writing briefs and pleadings; negotiating settlements; and administrative duties as they relate to the practice of law. Must have 2+ years of experience and be in good standing with the California Bar Association. Should have strong litigation, verbal and writing skills. Knowledge of workers' compensation law is required.
