Legal Assistant/Paralegal Responsibilities: The candidate shall assist with drafting, editing, reviewing and filing of legal documents.Transcribe dictation. Manage organization of all client files, including scanning for our paper-light office. Assist with preparation of incoming and outgoing discovery, including working with clients to gather information and documents and preparation of document requests to non-parties. Maintain calendars, including coordination and scheduling of meetings, discovery deadlines, court appearances, conference calls and client reporting; sending calendar invites and reminders; tracking deadlines and status of cases/matters. Includes reviewing correspondence to identify dates to be calendared. Prepare checklists, timelines, issues list and document schedules, as needed. Review and summarize discovery responses and other data. Assemble documents for client matters; compile signature pages and exhibits and ensuring that final documents are complete; distribute same to parties. Record billable time for client matters. Assist with administrative office tasks. Qualifications: The candidate shall have College degree and/or paralegal certificate with 2+ years experience as an assistant in an office setting. Civil litigation experience required. Familiarity with litigation pleading and discovery document formatting and related civil practice deadlines. Computer savvy: knowledgeable about Word formatting; ability to Bates label and edit .pdf documents; Excel and PowerPoint skills preferred Sound judgment and discretion.
