Paralegal - Civil Litigation The candidate will assist in the defense of civil lawsuits in the areas of premises liability, construction defects, and professional malpractice. Tasks include coordinating litigated files, interviewing clients, reviewing and summarizing medical records, drafting correspondence and pleadings, preparing and responding to discovery requests and trial preparation. Should preferably have a BA and paralegal experience. Experience preparing North Carolina (and possibly SC) and federal pleadings, discovery responses, and other court documents and experience filing documents on ECF (federal court) is needed. Experience summarizing voluminous medical records and written discovery is required. Prior experience working as a paralegal in an NC insurance defense practice is essential. Experience communicating with clients about substantive information related to litigation is a must. Experience working in a fast-paced, team oriented litigation environment is desired. Must have current knowledge of computer-based technology and social media associated with litigation practice. Should have a working knowledge of North Carolina (and possibly SC) and federal court system and procedural steps of litigation. Bilingual with fluency in the Spanish language is a huge plus. Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat is required and experience with case management or document management software is preferred. Must be detail-oriented, have a professional demeanor, have the ability to work independently, and be able to handle large volumes of work in a fast-paced environment. Should be an outgoing, ambitious paralegal who enjoys working with others. Must be a reliable referral from an attorney with knowledge of the above skills.
