Legal Secretary (Litigation) The candidate will support a desk comprised of four active partners and associates. Will be called upon to provide back-up support to other secretaries during unscheduled absences and vacations support. Will need to be able to draft, transcribe, proofread, edit and file court documents and related correspondence, memorandums, pleadings and related documents. Will need to be able to e-file documents with local, state, federal and appellate courts as well as assist with paper filing in office. Handle the incoming and outgoing mail for the attorneys they support. They will need to be able to keep the attorneys aware of scheduled events and approaching deadlines. Be able to communicate by phone and e-mail with clients and maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service at all times. Be able to enter time and handle billing for assigned timekeepers. Travel arrangements and the preparation of expense claims; processing of invoices and preparation of New Business memos will also be expected. Possess the willingness and flexibility to work closely with all departments in assisting with the workflow of the firm and perform additional duties as needed. Must have the ability to self-direct and prioritize tasks, have excellent attention to detail, strong organization skills and excellent written and verbal communications skills. Exceptional grammar, spelling and proofreading skills are required. Must be self-motivated, dependable and have the ability to work under pressure while handling a variety of secretarial and administrative tasks within a busy legal environment. Punctuality is a must. Must have high proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat. Typing speed with accuracy is a must. BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent in experience.
