Litigation Legal Secretary The candidate will assist attorneys and paralegals through the performance of complex secretarial and clerical duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and the legal process. Will report to the firm's HR department. Work with team in the preparation and filing of all court documents and have knowledge of electronic court filings and litigation procedures. Contact clients and opposing counsel for the scheduling of appointments and maintain timekeeper calendars. Communicate directly with clients in a professional manner. Review and proofread all documents produced, check for proper formatting, spelling and grammatical errors, as well as ensuring that all attachments, exhibits or enclosures are intact before distribution. Provide document production services in accordance with the requirements of assigned timekeepers. Maintain client files - electronic scanning. Assist attorneys in the review of billing statements. Act as liaison between attorneys and paralegals with regard to prioritizing workload and deadlines. Coordinate and make travel arrangements. Communicate information and updates on projects to appropriate timekeeper. Prepare assignments according to required specifications. Perform conflict checks and file openings.
The candidate must have 2+ years of experience working as a litigation legal secretary. Experience with ECF court filings is required. Should have ability to conduct and follow through with electronic court filings and knowledge of the court systems and their guidelines. Requires the ability to regularly report to work on the days and times scheduled. Must have willingness and desire to attend training classes to maintain and increase technical skill sets. Should be proficient in MS Office 2010.
