Paralegal Specialist - Litigation The candidate will work on a team that manages large volumes of documents and data. Will be responsible for reviewing, organizing, and maintaining document databases for case tracking, discovery, and document production. Draft standard and recurrent pleadings, e-file, and serve documents. Assist attorneys with preparing pleadings/motions for filing and service. Assist attorneys in various offices across the firm in support of the clients. Assist in the preparation of necessary documents for witness interviews, depositions, hearings, and trials. Locate and review information applicable to a particular case, person, or subject through online research or document reviews. Act as the lead paralegal by managing cases and guiding teammates. Develop checklists, tracking systems, and other processes to improve efficiency for the practice. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate. Must have 10 years of experience as a litigation paralegal. Should preferably have 10 years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm. Trial experience and mass tort experience are strongly preferred. Experience with litigation technology including eDiscovery is desired. Experience with Westlaw and Lexis/Nexis is an asset. Experience using Pacer and Courtlink is a plus. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills are needed. Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to anticipate needs and exercise judgement for resolution are needed. Should have strong writing skills and the ability to draft complex legal documents. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are required to interact with staff, paralegals, attorneys, and clients daily. Strong technological capabilities to set-up and maintain matters are a must. Thorough understanding of the litigation life cycle is essential. Should have thorough understanding of federal and local filing procedures (electronic and hard copy). Advanced knowledge of Relativity database is required. The ability to maintain large volumes of documents and data utilizing databases and spreadsheets is needed. The ability to locate and research information applicable to a particular matter, person, regulation, and/or transaction through online research, document review, and due diligence is a must. Should have the ability to identify interrelationships among cases, statutes, regulations, and other legal authorities. Must be a team leader with strong interpersonal skills required to interact with staff, paralegals, attorneys, and clients. Proven ability to work on cross-functional teams in multiple jurisdictions, across time zones is essential. Strong analytical skills are required to manage budgets and resources.
