Litigation Paralegal - Family Law The candidate will perform legal and factual research. Will identify relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, and other pertinent material. Organize and analyze information. Cross-check and validate information. Assist in drafting legal documents including briefs, pleadings, appeals, agreements, contracts and legal memoranda. Help prepare legal arguments, applications, declarations and motions. Prepare correspondence. Check and edit legal forms and documents for accuracy. Build and maintain databases and files. Organize and track case files. Help with trial preparation to include witness lists, exhibits and trial binders. Assist lawyers in the courtroom. Maintain attorneys calendar for court events, office conferences and deadlines. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree, associates degree or certificate program in paralegal studies. Knowledge of the Mecklenburg County Local Rules and North Carolina General Statute Chapter 50 is an advantage. Paralegal certification is a plus. Notary Public is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft office and dictation software is an advantage. Should have 3+ years experience in Mecklenburg Family Law cases. Experience should include the capability to prepare exhibit notebooks, spreadsheets, word processing of dictated pleadings, letters and such. The ability to prepare affidavits of financial standing, prepare discovery requests and respond to discovery requests is essential. The substantial knowledge of local rules and Family court personnel is a plus.
