Litigation Paralegal The candidate will draft legal documents, including complaints, cross-complaints, answers, demurrers, motions, and more. Prepare legal correspondence, draft settlement agreements and other documents. Calendar all matter-related dates and deadlines. File documents with courts throughout California, following all applicable court rules. Assist the attorneys to prepare for arbitration, mediation or trial by organizing documents, preparing exhibit binders, and more. Communicate with clients and other professionals to discuss details of case. Gather and analyze research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, and documents. Arrange for services as may be required including scheduling court reporters, reserving technology for hearings, and more. Organize and maintain documents in electronic filing system. Transactional work as required to support non-litigation matters. A limited amount of administrative, non-legal tasks related to general office operations of small firm. Litigation experience required; construction defect/land use/mechanics lien experience a huge plus. Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved paralegal education program is required. Mastery of court document filing requirements and procedures, including efiling rules, particularly in Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Los Angeles Counties required. Strong skills with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Adobe Acrobat; familiarity with Rocket Matter a plus. 5-7 years paralegal experience preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
