Legal Secretary / Medical Malpractice Defense Duties: Categorizes mail, records, and reports; organizes files according to attorney's direction. Answers telephone calls and routes calls to appropriate attorney. Types routine summaries and reports, i.e., EBT reports, Pretrial reports. Prepares correspondence i.e., Good Faith letters, Note of Issue letters, Closing Letters. Processes authorizations, expert witness disclosures, orders with notice of entry served on County Clerk, notices for discovery and inspection, responses to plaintiffs combined demands, RJI and PC Requests, verified answers with combined demands. Follow up on medicals. Diary plaintiffs BP and response to our demands. Any motions, replies, affirmations, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. Time and Billing entry. Qualifications: NY State Notary License a plus. 3+ years' of Insurance Defense experience. Medical Malpractice Defense experience a plus. Desired Qualifications: Good understanding of legal terminology and various legal documents. High standards of confidentiality. PC literacy and excellent knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of TABS3 billing a plus. Knowledge of Worldox a plus. Ability to type a minimum of 60 wpm. Excellent discretionary skills. Professional business demeanor. High attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills. Self motivation. The ability to work well with others. The ability to pick up legal file folders weighing in excess of five pounds.
