Litigation Paralegal Duties: Perform administrative duties, such as calendar hearings, court and discovery deadlines. Manage hard copy and electronic case documents, including managing email and electronic files and preparing binders of hard copy documents. Provide internet research including pulling cases from Lexis and Westlaw, as needed, along with conducting research and analyzing various law sources. Assist with the general aspects of document productions (redacting, copying, Bates stamping). Assist attorneys with preparation of motions. Cite-check, bluebook and Shepardize briefs and legal memoranda. Drafting of routine court documents. Organize, analyze, and index documents and exhibits. Assist with all aspects of deposition preparation. Organize and prepare witness files and trial notebooks. Create and maintain trial exhibit and deposition designation databases; assist with preparation of pre and post-trial briefs. Create and maintain working files for attorneys and index files for long-term storage. Organizes and manages litigation cases from inception to trial and appeal including document productions, deposition preparation and trial preparation. Requirements: Bachelor's degree with ABA paralegal certification or Associates/Bachelor's degree in Paralegal studies, preferred. 7 years minimum litigation paralegal experience. Knowledge and understanding of legal principles and practices. Experienced in all areas of paralegal duties from inception of case to trial and appeal, including but not limited to case management, general research utilizing Westlaw, case retrieval, bluebooking, cite checking and proof reading pleadings. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and litigation support applications such as Relativity. Trial experience required. Ability to apply understanding and knowledge of the litigation process from pretrial to post-trial. Strong organizational and problem solving skills. Superior interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication across a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys and staff while maintaining high level of work quality and customer service. Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work concurrently on a variety of projects with changing priorities. Ability to convey information to individuals at all levels within the firm in a courteous and professional manner; strong service orientation. Must be well versed in both federal and state court procedure and filing requirements, to include e-filing in federal courts and state courts. Specifically, experience in Maryland state and federal courts.
