Plaintiff s Personal Injury Paralegal/Legal Assistant Candidate will be mass torts and single event injury cases. Will work directly with the Attorneys and will be primarily responsible for the pre-suit and litigation aspects of cases. Will work closely with the Attorneys and other support personnel to make sure that all aspects of each case are being properly handled. Expected to aggressively move all cases forward and to take the initiative to promptly complete all assignments necessary to properly move the cases toward resolution. Will include: Answer all incoming calls on assigned cases. Review all incoming mail and correspondence, and immediately route it as necessary. Send all outgoing correspondence. Draft outgoing letters and prepare outgoing mail. Communicate with client regarding progress of case. Draft and send fee agreements, client questionnaires and initial case intake documents. Obtain signed medical authorizations from client. Track and monitor Under Consideration (UC) cases. Transcribe dictation. Obtain necessary records, photos, evidence. Obtain all insurance information. Communicate with insurance adjusters. Communicate regularly with the supervising attorney regarding case status and progress. Prepare settlement statement and close-out paperwork. Schedule hearings, depositions and other matters. Calendar deadlines, follow up reminders, and all events. Ensure that all case-related information is properly saved to Trial Works (TW) immediately. Prepare and send out decline letters, and other correspondence to clients. Prepare notices of depositions, hearings and other matters. Prepare hearings and deposition folders. File all hard copies of documents and maintain and organize hard file for each case. All other matters necessary to properly handle case. Demonstrate proficiency in use of Case Management System (Trial Works) as it corresponds to job responsibilities. Perform all duties in conjunction with a paperless work environment. Prepare demand packages. Review and summarize depositions, as directed. Review and summarize medical records. Review and summarize medical bills & liens. Prepare witness and exhibit lists. Prepare discovery responses and draft discovery requests. Act as primary liaison with experts. Prepare materials and exhibits for mediation and trial. Work with vendors to prepare and obtain trial and mediation exhibits. Ensure compliance with all trial order deadlines and requirements. Prepare PowerPoint/Keynote presentations for trial and mediation. Conduct basic research and investigation. Prepare and issue subpoenas. Qualifications: Litigation experience, medical legal experience and experience in pre-suit preparation for medical legal matters (i.e.: requesting medical records, billing, insurance information as well as drafting discovery responses) is required. Experience with litigation, personal injury, mass torts and medical malpractice is a plus. A nursing background is also a plus. Must be a team player and possess the skills to interact with Clients, all levels of support staff and Attorneys (i.e. plays well with others A?).
