Tax Paralegal The candidate assists attorneys in project management and all aspects of tax and tax litigation support: drafts and analyze documents, reviewing for responsiveness, privilege, and other substantive or objective criteria. Performs legal, factual, and investigative research. Coordinates document productions. Manages deadlines, and files and organizes documents and case files. Overtime is required on an as-needed basis. Manages and utilizes automated support tools, including MS Office, Westlaw, and LexisNexis. Performs factual research to identify issues and relevant matters, including confirming facts and legal authority, and preparing compilations of findings. Compiles information concerning issues identified by attorneys and prepares documentation, statistics, charts, graphs, and other metrics, as appropriate, that clear detail findings. Interacts with clients and outside entities, such as government agencies (IRS and state revenue agencies), expert witnesses, corporations, and other law firms, to gather information and data. Works with clients and attorneys to gather, track, analyze and produce responsive documents. Reviews and drafts routine legal documents. Maintains docket and manages deadlines for all active cases in a number of jurisdictions. Prepares all facets of tax cases for trial. Creates and maintains case files and assists with team calendars and scheduling tasks. Works in conjunction with other paralegals, secretaries, and other business professionals to bring projects to completion. Manages electronic filing of documents with various courts. The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required along with a Paralegal Certificate. Must have 10-12 years of experience in a law firm or professional services environment are required. Tax experience is strongly preferred. Must be a self-starter with excellent attention to detail. Should have the ability to work under strict deadlines and handle multiple detailed tasks. Must have strong MS Office capabilities in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Should have strong organizational skills with solid follow-through and excellent communication, writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Should have strong client service orientation and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
