Paralegal - Litigation The candidate will work for the insurance defense litigation firm. Works independently with minimal supervision.. Understands complex legal documents. Prepares routine correspondence and pleadings. Prepares responses to complex discovery requests. Prepares trial and deposition notebooks and trial exhibits. Organizes, indexes, and summarizes medical records. Summarizes depositions in preparation for trial. Proofs, verifies, and edits all documents created for accuracy, clarity, and formatting consistency. Utilizes advanced computer skills to prepare complex reports, charts, tables, graphs, and forms. Reviews task list and calendar daily to assure deadlines are met. Organizes workload to meet established priorities and get time-sensitive documents out in a timely manner. Communicates with clients on behalf of his/her attorneys and the firm to strengthen the lines of communication between the client and attorney. Uses discretion and judgment when communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. Handles confidential information professionally and consistent with legal and ethical policies. Alerts attorneys of any problems. Performs all duties consistent with the policies and procedures of the firm. Must be detail oriented, have strong written and oral communication skills, and have excellent clerical skills. Should have a minimum of 2 years of paralegal experience. Paralegal certification is helpful. High school or equivalent required.
