Senior Paralegal - Litigation DUTIES: Work closely with attorney and client teams to provide support during all phases of litigation and pre-litigation matters including prefiling investigations, pleading phase, discovery, trial, and appeal; Assist with preparation and service of pleadings, court filings, discovery documents, and subpoenas; provide substantive support during all phases of the discovery process; assist with preparation and filing of dispositive and non-dispositive motions; assist with post trial filings including appeal briefs and record; Provide lead support during the trial preparation process including preparation of all pretrial filings and exchanges; take lead role in preparing trial exhibit list and trial exhibits; assist with preparation of demonstrative exhibits; provide a wide range of support before, during, and after trials; Be knowledgeable regarding all applicable procedural and court rules, proper docketing procedure, e-filing process and procedure, and e-discovery rules and process; Take lead role in keeping case team aware of and prepared for approaching deadlines and due dates; Perform general research utilizing Westlaw, Pacer, the internet, and social media; Supervise and/or coordinate work assignments with support staff; Organize and manage litigation cases files utilizing iManage and other applications as well as some hard copy files; Draft and maintain document indices and spreadsheets; Prepare and maintain witness, discovery, and evidentiary binders and materials; Assist with preparation for depositions, witness interviews, expert meetings, and court hearings including attending as needed; Communicate with clients, court personnel, and government agencies/officials on case matters; Organize and manage case documents in compliance with requirements set forth in case protective order and any other applicable court orders or agreements; adhere to firm Records policy as appropriate; communicate with attorneys, client, opposing counsel, and Records staff regarding same. QUALIFICATIONS: bachelor's degree and 5+ years of corporate paralegal experience in a Law Firm or Professional Services environment required OR 10+ years of corporate paralegal experience in a Law Firm or Professional Services environment required. Knowledge of civil procedure and e-filing process and procedure in both state and federal courts; Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrated in the ability to present information in a concise and understandable way; Good writing and proofreading skills as well as aptitude to learn and utilize multiple legal and administrative support applications; Ability to deal professionally with clients, court personnel, witnesses, opposing counsel, and others involved in the litigation process; Ability to work independently as well as in cross functional teams; Ability to develop relationships and foster teamwork at all levels of the organization; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail including the ability to prioritize work and manage a high volume of cases and projects while producing exceptional work product in a fast paced environment; Strong computer skills including word processing, email management, and document management software; Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite, iManage, Relativity, Adobe Acrobat, PACER/ECF, txcourts.gov, and other litigation support software; Familiarity with Westlaw and general knowledge of other research tools, such as special legal and/or government agency databases, the internet, and social media sites to obtain required information and documents; Must be available to work extended hours and travel when required, including to extended out of town trials.
