Litigation Paralegal The candidate will track and maintain deadlines and case hearings on the calendar. Maintain case files on case management system. Draft discovery requests and responses. Prepare and file probate and conservative documents. Draft and proofread motions and pleadings. Knowledge of Code of Civil Procedure, Probate Rules (a plus!) and local civil and probate rules required. Trial Preparation (including drafting complaints, motions and putting together trial binders) required. Correspond with the client by email, phone, and case management system. Keep attorney informed of new information and case status. 3+ years of experience in civil litigation OR probate litigation (with a willingness to learn trust and estates) required. Proficient researcher (comfortable with searching case law, statutory law/codes and practice procedures in order to meet procedural requirements) required. Paralegal Certificate preferred. Conservatorship experience preferred. Must have experience/be familiar with Code of Civil Procedure required. Participation in contested evidentiary hearings/trial strongly preferred. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be proactive with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with local filing procedures, e-filing, California Rules of Court and Judicial Council Forms required. Excellent time management skills to meet multiple deadlines required. Proficiency with Word, Word Perfect, Adobe, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and legal case management systems required. Trust and estates experience or probate experience is preferred.
