Workers' Compensation Paralegal The candidate will draft and file discovery and correspondence. Will prepare cases for hearings by organizing files, interview and subpoena witnesses, and prepare exhibits; and attend and assist attorney with hear and client meetings. Assist attorneys with file management. Review claim files to obtain all information concerning claim. File board forms. Correspond with client, physicians and employers about hearing dates, status of claim(s), etc. Research claim options, research third-party actions. Review procedures for taking case into litigation. Interpret disability schedules and medical treatment parameters. Investigate claims and interview claimant co-workers and/or witnesses. Obtain, review, and analyze claimant's medical records. Calculate average weekly wages and benefits. Coordinate arrangements for independent medical examination. Coordinate information and communications among client/employer, physician, insurance adjusters, rehabilitation specialists and expert witnesses. Should preferably have a B.A. paralegal certificate. Must have 3+ years of experience handling workers' compensation cases from inception to resolution.
