Paralegal- Civil Litigation The candidate will primarily assist in the defense of civil lawsuits in the areas of premises liability, construction defect, professional malpractice, and automobile accident claims. Responsibilities include coordinating litigated files, interviewing clients, reviewing and summarizing medical records, drafting correspondence and pleadings, preparing and responding to discovery requests and trial preparation. Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat is required and experience with case management or document management software is preferred. Outgoing, ambitious paralegal who enjoys working with others. Experience working in a fast-paced, team oriented litigation environment. Current knowledge of computer-based technology and social media associated with litigation practice. Working knowledge of North Carolina (and possibly SC) and federal court system and procedural steps of litigation. Experience preparing North Carolina (and possibly SC) and federal pleadings, discovery responses, and other court documents and experience filing documents on ECF (federal court). Experience summarizing voluminous medical records and written discovery. Experience communicating with clients about substantive information related to litigation. Prior experience working as a paralegal in a NC insurance defense practice. Reliable referral from attorney with knowledge of the above skills. Prefer BA and paralegal experience in automobile negligence cases. Speak both English and Spanish will receive strong consideration. Will work both in the office and remotely as needed.
