Litigation Paralegal The candidate will support attorneys in a complex commercial litigation practice that is predominantly focused on environmental insurance and cost recovery. Will be a valued member of the litigation team. Play an integral role in enabling the cleanup of contaminated sites in Washington State; and work on large cases with interesting and unique issues in a collegial and collaborative small firm environment. Will be able to support the attorneys with all aspects of litigation, including reviewing and synthesizing documents, organizing information and evidence, keeping records and files up to date and organized on a daily basis, drafting and filing pleadings in court, and preparing for hearings and trial. Prepare correspondence, and format and proof read documents drafted by others. Perform legal and factual research. Gather and organize facts, documents, and evidence to assist in motion practice and at trial. Assist with drafting discovery requests and responses; conduct document searches; organize documents and coordinate document productions, including bates-numbering, redaction, production logs, and e-discovery. Prepare materials for oral arguments. Prepare for trials; organize exhibits, witness materials, trial notebooks, and all other supporting documents; coordinate trial logistics. Perform administrative functions such as scanning and filing documents in document management system; perform word processing functions, perform filing, E-filing, service and mailing of pleadings, documents, correspondence and courtesy copies, and calendar deadlines. The candidate should have College degree with minimum 3 years experience as a litigation paralegal. Should have in-depth knowledge of State and local King County and Pierce County court rules and procedures, andu the skills to find and understand those in other jurisdictions. Must have knowledge of King County and Pierce County e-filing systems, and the ability to learn e-filing systems in other jurisdictions. Should have ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel). Knowledge of WordPerfect a plus. Should have excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, verbal and written communication skills.
