Insurance Defense Paralegal/Legal Assistant Responsibilities: Conduct various document searches, litigation history, corporate & factual research, background investigations and property records. Initial drafting of discovery, pleadings and settlement documents for attorney review. Review, summarize and organize various documents, including document production, redacting, and bates numbering. Preparing subpoenas for records and following up as to same. Intake and organization of voluminous document production received from clients, opposing parties, and non-parties. Communicating with experts, including scheduling and sending documents for review. Summarize transcripts of depositions and examinations under oath. Prepare exhibits for depositions, examinations under oath, motions, hearings and trial. Conduct client interviews. Electronic document management. Meet all pre-lit and court deadlines. Maintain attorney calendar. Provide clients with updates. Legal research. Qualifications: 5+ Years of Experience with first-party property insurance dispute. 5+ years of experience as a Paralegal, insurance defense background required. Qualifications: Experience in insurance defense. Paralegal with experience working in busy First Party Property practice. Experience in drafting legal documents (notices, motions, etc.). Experience in assisting the attorney in trial preparations. Direct dealings with adjusters and clients. Trial Prep Experience (trial binders, deposition indexes, etc.). Technologically Literate. Knowledge of court systems for civil cases. Experience with variety of computer programs, such as: Microsoft Office (Outlook & Word), Adobe, Dropbox, Westlaw and/or LexisNexis. Account for daily time through billing program. E-Filing with State/Federal Courts. Familiarity with Florida Rules of Civil Procedures. Ability to interact effectively with the public, clients, and employees; maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact; work independently in the absence of specific instruction. Ability to identify urgent tasks and to prioritize accordingly. Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills. Able to practice appropriate office etiquette. Ability to manage their time and multitask effectively. Able to display problem-solving skills by developing methods or approaches to getting the work done. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure. Ability to adapt to new situations and changing priorities.
