Legal Secretary (Patent) The candidate prepares documents for e-filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the International Bureau, including applications, amendments, paying issue fees, and paying maintenance fees. Manages all aspects of international patent application process, including PCT applications, non-PCT direct country filings, and corresponding with foreign patent offices and associates. Assists with docketing, workflow management of correspondence, and action due dates for USPTO and international filings. Keeps current on client/matter histories, firm procedures and processes, and relevant patent prosecution best practices. Accurately maintains client files. Prepares correspondences and responses for mailing, faxing, courier, FEDEX, to include the certificate of mailing, copy and filing of documents as per client instructions and/or protocol. Performs research using various databases and obtains copies of documents as requested. Prepares pleadings and filings in Federal Courts and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Prepares various intellectual property related legal documents, including assignments/transfers, software licenses, non-disclosure agreements, etc.. Performs secretarial functions associated with firm administrative tasks, to include processing new client/matter requests, client bills, expense reports, and processing of vendor invoices. Reviews and coordinates attorneys billings. High school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor's degree or some college is preferred. Should have 3+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with trademark and copyright matters is preferred.
