Legal Secretary The candidate will demonstrate personal investment in the long term success of the team. The candidate should be confident, highly organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to be proactive, assertive, and willing to work independently and collaboratively with other legal secretaries/assistants, paralegals, and attorneys. The candidate should be able to communicate clearly and concisely with a solution oriented approach. Responsibilities include file management using team style/method, finalizing and serving pleadings, discovery and other legal documents, scheduling meetings and depositions with appropriate detail, docketing and tracking case deadlines, proofreading/editing attorneys work, e-filings, travel arrangements for attorneys, document and file organization, document creation, conversion and formatting, preparing expenses, and other administrative duties. Must have knowledge of procedures and rules for filing documents in State and Federal Courts, and experience filing documents in both courts. Qualified candidates will have at least 6 years of experience as a legal secretary, a thorough understanding of the litigation process and procedures in State and Federal Courts, and proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Windows 10 is preferred. Must be able to ask questions when necessary, and work independently to meet deadlines, while re-prioritizing work as needed to get the job done. Paralegal skills are preferred.
