Litigation Paralegal Duties: Drafting discovery, thorough knowledge of TRCP rules which apply to trial preparation (i.e., 18.001 s, TRCP 203, business record affidavits, etc.), e-filing, preparing trial notebooks, ordering medical records, signing-up new cases, setting up medical appointments, supervising pre-lit legal assistants and support staff, responding to client inquiries, scheduling depositions, coordinating with record retrieval companies and deposition companies. Managing pre-litigation and litigation dockets by taking ownership of your files. Assisting attorneys in preparation for hearings and trials. Investigating and fact-finding for cases. Assisting in preparing legal documents such as legal arguments, motions, contracts and agreements. Organizing, indexing and tracking files. Analyzing and organizing information to produce reports. Providing administrative support for attorneys in court and at the offices.
Qualifications: 5+ years experience in personal injury/mass tort/storm damage litigation; Experience with/in 10+ Trials; Bilingual highly preferred. Must have ability to manage case from sign-up to closing out post-verdict or settlement with assistance of other support staff. Must be a team player and able to provide guidance to pre-litigation staff and train when necessary to increase productivity. Preferred: Excellent organizational and logic skills. Excellent Computer Skills (Excel, Outlook, Microsoft). Familiarity with legal databases. (Abacus, Needles, Trial Works). Ability to multi-task and perform on deadline. Team player. Preferred: Associate degree in paralegal studies. Certification from the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) or the American Alliance Certified Paralegal (AACP) credential offered by the American Alliance of Paralegals, Inc.
