Paralegal - Evictions Duties: Adhere to policy, procedures, and timelines. Excellent customer service skills. Have comprehensive understanding of the Eviction processes in New York. Comply with all internal directive/client requirements. Identify & report issues with files; lay the foundation for the Team Leads and Attorneys to respond to issues. Update and Process all files through the EVICTION website. Manage EVICTION Dashboard. Complete all notifications daily. Complete all Follow-ups as scheduled. Complete all Requests as scheduled. Prepare all New York eviction documents and pleadings. Coordinate property lockouts with the local county sheriffs offices and the underlying clients personnel. Manage Emails and ensure all emails are appropriately updated via the EVICTION website and filed in I-manage. Routinely update Clients on the status of the eviction file. Identify and manage Litigated and Bankruptcy files and escalate these files when appropriate to the Team Lead. Open new file, both physical and in the PM website, for all new Rent Collection files. Update EVICTION website as needed. Prepare and send engagement Letters to Clients. For FL files Prepare and send Demand for Rent letters to the Property. For all other States refer file to Local Counsel to send out a Demand for Rent. Field Calls from Tenants. Monitor Files for Rental payments. Process Rental Payments. Receive payments from Tenants. Send to accounting for check processing. Maintain spreadsheet of checks sent to accounting to confirm the check has cleared the escrow account and a check has been processed to the Client. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience, is required Paralegal certification from an accredited institution preferred. Experience with the Housing Part of the New York City Civil Court and Nassau/Suffolk District Courts preferred. Strong oral/written communication skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook), Internet Use & Web based programs.
