Litigation Paralegal The candidate will work for an environmental law firm. Will manage electronic and paper discovery. Project management (i.e., managing to deliverables and milestones: on time and within budget, meeting business and client needs). Organize and index case files. Investigate facts, research law, and prepare documents as directed by attorneys. Review legal documents and conduct factual analysis. Summarize legal documents and data. Create privilege logs. Perform wide variety of research and data compilation. Assist in preparing reports, affidavits, correspondences, declarations and complaints. Proofread, check accuracy of quotes and cite formats in legal documents. Act as liaison with court clerks. Review local court rules and identify filing requirements. Conduct electronic and paper filing with court. Determine event deadlines and calendar same. Assist attorney in preparation for depositions. Attend depositions; Prepare deposition digests. Assist attorneys in mediations, arbitrations or other forms of ADR. Assist attorneys at trial. Communicate with witnesses and experts. Enter billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned such as marketing, RFP response, practice team, presentation and event support and assist library, conflicts and other miscellaneous duties. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree and minimum of 3 years of relevant litigation experience. Familiarity with major ediscovery platforms such as CasePoint, Relativity. Must have experience in supporting attorneys in a busy litigation practice group. Strong project management, research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communications skills are required for this role. Knowledge of electronic filings (state and federal), as well as court rules and procedures, litigation terminology and documentation. Computer proficiency, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Flexibility to work late and travel (locally and nationally) as needed. Ability to retrieve and distribute print volumes, push and pull packages and books weighing up to 30 pounds, and ability to retrieve objects from shelves of up to 8 feet high and replace same. Paralegal certificate a plus. Project management certificate a plus.
