Litigation Paralegal Duties: Perform a variety of duties including researching law, investigating facts, and preparing documents for attorneys according to established policies and procedures. Continual review and management of case files. Prepare subpoenas compelling depositions and/or document productions. Prepare initial discovery, i.e., interrogatories, request for production, request for admissions. Prepare draft responses to discovery, including document productions and corresponding privilege logs. Prepare attorneys for depositions. Vet and engage with subject matter experts. E-File in both State and Federal Court systems. Handle journal deadlines for responses and monitor for timeliness. Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, chronologies, agreements, and/or trial binders for use by attorneys. Prepare case and medical chronologies, agreements, deposition summaries/abstracts and trial and/or mediation binders for use by attorneys. Investigate facts as requested by attorneys. Prepare trial binders, exhibit lists, exhibit binders, trial subpoenas. Engage in witness management; schedule trial testimony and other arrangements as necessary. Attend trial as necessary. Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs. Listens and solicits clarification when needed. Response well to questions. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and researches data. Takes independent actions and calculated risks. Asks for and offers help when needed. Follows instructions, responds to management direction. Qualficatoins: Bachelor's degree is preferred. Must meet the qualifications specified under the California Business & Professions Code 6450 with 5 years of general civil litigation experience. Experience with trial preparation and participation/attendance, including organization of witness materials and preparation of physical and electronic exhibits. Experience in the area of general civil and business litigation. Experience in bad faith and ERISA litigation preferred. Experience with exhibit manipulation software such as Sanction/Trial Director/TrialPad, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge and experience of e-Filing in both State and Federal Court systems. Knowledge of complex litigation. High proficiency in Relativity. Proficiency with internet software, iManage, and MS Office Suite programs. Demonstrates attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality. The ability to read and interpret written information. The ablility to work additional hours and overtime when necessary
